Hey folks, Ben Leon here reporting to you from Hawaii. Chris asked me to write a blog entry today for you guys. Today was the first day of our South Pacific adventure and it exceeded our expectations. This place is beautiful beyond belief and the men we have brought to the islands are quite a sight to see. This shoot is by far the biggest project I have ever been involved with including 10 crew and 14 incredible guys. I'm co- directing this film with Chris and doing a lot of the camera work (You've seen our co- directing skills before in Manifesto).

We started early this morning finishing up location scouting and quickly began shooting. First up was a solo shoot with Jay Black. David Hempling whipped out his refined skills. Even in the off and on rain we were able to capture the amazing musculature and sexuality of this man. This shoot was followed by a solo with RSS exclusive Justin Christopher whose big cock still stuns everyone on our crew. Justin was a trooper and busted a huge load despite insects and hot sun.

The afternoon featured a five hour shoot with Mario Cruz and new found stud Rambo. We shot the two men against a magnificent jungle backdrop with the help of emerging director and big dicked pornstar Collin O'Neal. Mario Cruz is well known and loved at RSS and today he reminded us why. He took Rambo's big cock without hesitation. I was blown away by Rambo. Hello Everyone--or should I say Aloha!

We have just finished a hard day of work here on our Island, having spent the entire day driving hundreds of miles in search of the perfect locations for our big movie. We are actually shooting two separate projects on this outting, one, Lords of The Jungle, to be a major outdoor release for later this year. This movie is more about the jungle than Hawaii, so our second film is all about Hawaii itself. Models do not start arriving until after dinner, and shooting begins tomorrow morning at 8 am! I can hardly wait!

Of all the places we found today, several stand out as stunning! The first is a huge, collapsed lava tube--which means we will actually have some cave shots in our film. The jungle drips from the sky down onto black rocks at this hidden location deep in the wild, a perfect setting for some amazing sex. We will not be shooting there for several days, but when it happens I hope to be able to upload some photos for you.

A second location is an ancient lava flow, black and shiny, a stunning moon-like backdrop against which to shoot some beautiful men. A broad sandy beach with coconut trees recalls to mind South Pacific, but have no worries, the sound track will not include any Rogers and Hammerstein tunes!

Another location is really choice--remember Magnum PI and that great estate that Higgins rules? Well we found one even better--dozens of acres of manicured tropical lawns, and another dozen wild jungle settings, all eagerly offered to us by an owner who says Raging Stallion is his favorite studio. We have encountered this a lot here--everyone knows our movies, and--get this--everyone wants to be in them! So, we are going to shoot some locals--never before seen men! Adding to the cast is not a problem--sure the expense is greater, but thanks to huge, blockbuster sales of Bedroom Eyes (our newest smash hit), we can afford to expand the shoot. We are even considering coming back again in two months to shoot some more stunning outdoor stuff!

We rented several houses which are very comfortable--complete with full kitchens, parking, lots of rooms, and wonderful vacation-like views. We are not really on vacation this trip--but this is better! Spending the whole day driving to various hidden spots--each with a magical tropical charm--what better way to sight see!

Tomorrow we have a full scene to shoot (on a ancient tree that has fallen in a forest of banana trees) as well as two solos and two full still layouts. We have three camera crews at work, each filming different things at the same time, so tomorrow's update will be pretty hot!

Gotta run--Colin O'Neal and Mario Cruz just pulled up in the driveway!

Hey Guys--

Before I leave for the Hawaii shoot, I wanted to start a series of blog entries that look back on some of my favorite actors who I have had a chance to film over the years. I will put one of these entries up every few weeks--I have about ten guys I would love to highlight for you. I am also going to dig through photo files and try to find some pictures of these men that you may have never seen. What most people don't know is that we have thousands of unpublished photographs of hundreds of hot men--so this will be a chance to get some of this great art out into the world!

So here goes! Tom Vacarro!!!!

Tom has always been one of my favorite actors--not only does he exhibit what I find to be damn near perfect in a man, but he is also one of the nicest men you could possibly find. He is gentle, kind, charming, and confident. What more could you ask for? And talk about good looking--he should have been a movie star! That chest of his is borderline perfect and his huge, hard cock is a tool that he uses with the skill of an expert. Tom was always a pleasure to film. Whenever he was in the cast of a movie, I knew that we were going to have a hit!

Hey guys!

It is very busy around the studio this week as we begin packing for my huge South Pacific island shoot. This is the biggest movie Raging t Stallion has ever undertaken--we have 21 guys (both cast and crew) boarding airplanes to fly to the ends of the earth to shoot hot jungle sex! You will not believe the lineup of men we have for this shoot--all Americans, this time out. The cast includes Jake Deckard, Steve Cruz, Colln O'Neal, Jason Crew, Marc Lasalle, Justin Christopher, Jay black, and several new discoveries that will knock your socks off! One of these new guys--he doesn't have a porn name yet--is a hot, young, beautifully muscled STRAIGHT guy who loves to get fucked! That's right--a straight bottom. We normally don't shoot straight guys at Raging Stallion, but this guy is so hot--and a bottom! I asked the other actors if they were into fucking a straight guy on film, and you should have seen their eyes! "Hell yea!" was the resounding reply! So this may be a first ever in gay porn--a bunch of gay studs gang banging an actual straight man! And I thought I had seen everything....

So what is it like packing for a big shoot like this? Well, we have four cameras that need to be hand carried on board the aircraft. We have our state-of-the-art HD Canon camera (this is our main shooting device) and a second, smaller HD camera to be used in places to dangerous to carry the main camera. Can you imagine how nervous I would be with my camera man out in the water with a $25,000.00 camera? One slip or a big wave and I am out a lot of bucks! The smaller, pro-am camera can take the fall! We also are bringing two older Canon XL2S's that we have as back ups. We shot many movies on these old Canons, but the light capabilities of the HD optics makes them much more preferable. Many of the shooting days have two crews working simultaneously on both sides of the island, so all of these cameras will be put to good use.

What else will we need? Well, each camera has a monitor (so the director can watch what is happening). These are fancy new HD monitors--very expensive! Gotta pack them well. We also have all of our still cameras--enough for two photographers to work at the same time--two sets of strobes, together with all their stands, etc. We also have a box of reflector cards to harness the sunlight. Since we envision no indoor shooting, we are only taking a few video lights.

Of course we also have to pack all the makeup, condoms, lube, and other model supplies that will be hard to find in the middle of nowhere. The place we are shooting only has electricity during the daylight hours--all generators turn off at nine pm--you see, we really are going to be in the middle of nowhere!

Most of what we will need we will buy on the island before leaving for the shoot location. We have three SUVs rented to provide daily service back and forth to the airports and the boat docks--we will also be loading these up with supplies for our ambitious mountain top shoot that will extend over three days.

Amazingly, there is some degree of Internet connectivity, so I will be reporting almost every day on the shoot--we fly out on Sunday and will be on location for 14 days, so be sure to tune in here at chriswardpornblog.com for updates on what is happening with the shoot. We will try to post daily photos as well.

It may be a bit hectic around here for the next few days, but I will try to get in at least one more gay porn update before I leave!

Raging Stallion Celebrates 7th Anniversary!

Hey Guys--seven years ago today, JD Slater came to my house and we founded Raging Stallion Studios. JD was a porn legend and had directed or appeared in well over 100 movies, and I has one of the hot new directors at Hot House, San Francisco's great porn studio. Together we decided to strike up a new tune and see if we could actually make a living in one of the toughest businesses around! We were good at this kind of stuff, so we gave it a go.

Our first years were difficult, but our SEXPACK series became a huge hit. We picked up a distributor (IMD) and had wonderful support from Hot House, Falcon, and Zeus Studios. These big players could have frozen us out, but instead they offered advice and support that let us grow into a talked-about emerging company.

We had a string of great movies and committed ourselves to keeping our quality high. Those early years saw such great stars as Tom Vacarro, Dean Coulter, Mark Evrett, Bryce Pierce, Blake Harper, Robert Black, and many other top models come thru our doors, many of whom became long term Raging Stallion performers. Since both JD and I had been actors, we really focused on creating a good work environment on our sets. Guys loved working for Raging Stallion, so they came back over and over again, giving our films a sense of continuity and quality that turned these early movies into classics that are still very popular today.

The next big event that happened was the arrival of Michael Brandon for the Sexpack 6 shoot. It was love at first sight and within months he became a partner in the studio, raising our quality still higher and really driving home the fact that Raging Stallion was all about fucking! Soon his very own Monster Bang Line was in full production, becoming the second major video line our company produced.

When September 11th hit, I was at home in bed and Max Grand was staying at my house. He came into my room to wake me telling me to turn on the TV. We had a major shoot scheduled that afternoon. Leif Gobo, our cameraman, was from New York and his sister was missing. We held an emergency meeting to cancel the shoot. All the guys--crew and actors alike--though badly shaken, insisted on shooting the next day. The result was the grand finale of Sexpack 7. We were all hit hard by the disaster, but we were also determined to press forward. Its a great scene, and one that I will forever remember filming.

September 11th also destroyed our profits. During the months after the attack, our sales went to near zero and our distribution system was in real trouble. I thought that we would go under within a month. Accordingly, I set up our own distribution company to deal directly with stores--a system that is still in place and one that has made Raging Stallion the largest gay porn company in the world today.

As the post 9/11 economy rebounded, so did sales and we have been on a rocket-like trajectory ever since! We moved into a new 4-story building and ramped up production, adding several new video lines: Centurion Pictures, Fisting Central, and Hairy Boyz. We also made a strategic alliance with Australia's top studio, Pistol Media. The Pistol guys are state-of-the-art internet geniuses, which gave us a huge web presence. Lords of the Jungle Shoot to Start

As August drones one, hotter and hotter each day, here at the studio we are getting very excited about our upcoming trip to the South Pacific for my Lords of the Jungle shoot. This is going to be the biggest, most expensive, and most difficult shoot we have ever attempted! Its very exciting and a bit scary! I have always wanted to do a big jungle movie, and this is my chance. I remember watching Kristen Bjorn's Amazon Adventure many years ago. I thought then--and I still think now--that it is one of the greatest movies of all time. That scene with those two hairy guys chopping their way thru the bush with machetes and then fucking each other. After they have sex for a while a third guy appears, face covered in paint. I would have left this guy out. But the two hairy men were as close to porn perfection as anything I have ever seen. That scene--and that movie--are probably my all time favorite moments of gay porn. San Francisco based Raging Stallion Studios today made several announcements about Bedroom Eyes, Director Chris Ward's major release for the 2006 Fall porn season. Introducing Dirk Jager

One letter, from a man named John, had a bunch of questions that I thought would be of interest to a wider audience, so I asked him if I could run his letter, complete with my replies to points he has made. Hi Mr. Ward-

My name is John and I just finished reading your BLOG for the first time. I definitely found it very interesting. I am mostly a porn fan, and I have written to you before about RSS, but I am also an amateur writer. For some reason, I have committed myself to writing a story that is set in the gay porn industry in San Francisco. I have never been on the set of a porn film. I always try to write about what I know, but I have always been fascinated by the porn industry, and somehow I ended up creating this story that might as well be set across the galaxy!

Reading your BLOG, there was some great info about where you live and the porn companies in SF, and my curiousity was sparked. I thought it wouldn't hurt to throw out a few questions about what I read. I know that you are super busy, but based on your response to my last letter, you seem to be a genuine and kind person, (not to mention a hot man), so however little you can offer in response will be appreciated.

Before I begin, I just thought you might like to know that the made-up porn company that I created for my story is based on Raging Stallion. It's completely fictional, but I imagined it with RSS in mind.

Anyway, here are my questions:

1) Just how often does the Dore Alley Street Fair happen? You said it was annual, and I always thought it was once a year like the Baltimore Pride festival, but it seems like it happens several times a year. Are there a lot of San Francisco street fairs like Dore Alley? Is it a typical pride festival, or is it more of a leather gathering? I know that there are a lot of porn booths- is it mostly an adult theme? Our pride festival here in Baltimore is very tame and family friendly, but I'm imagining that the Dore Alley Street Fair is more about adult fun. Sounds awesome to me, and I have no doubt that it beats any of our gay events, because they mostly suck. I guess I should get myself out to SF and find out for myself. There's no question that I'm going to have to visit before i finish my story.

CW: The Dore Alley street fair happens once per year--always the last weekend of July. It is the second of the four "High Holy Days" for San Francisco's gay community (The first is Gay Pride in June, followed by Dore Alley in July, then the legendary Folsom Street Fair in September, and finally the Castro Street Fair in early October). Dore Alley was always my favorite street fair--I remember one year when we were all fisting each other on the street at two in the afternoon! Dore used to be just for locals, but it's reputation grew until it became a kind of "mini-Folsom," attracting about 10,000 people (Folsom Street fair has a quarter million participants).

2) In the interview with yummy Jake Deckard, he was talking about the difference between working for RSS and other companies. He mentioned that "The sex is a bit more head on with RS, no endless hours on B-roll that's never gonna be used or even watched". Is it really true that other companies film hours and hours of guys fucking and then don't use most of it? That seems incredibly wasteful. What the heck is a "B-roll"? Just curious.

CW: B-roll in porn is the plot stuff. A-roll is sex and B-roll is all of the non-sex "acting" footage. The more plot a movie has, the more B-roll is required. Our movie "A Porn Star Is Born" had about 20 pages of dialog. Most RSS movies have "contexts" rather than "plots," so we do not spend much time on B-roll. Other companies often do shoot lots of footage that never ends up in the movie. At RSS, our directors also do all the editing (mainly, me and Ben Leon), so when we are shooting a movie, we don't waste time filming stuff we do not need. I think that RSS is the only company that has its directors doing the edits on a regular basis. This workflow saves lots of time and money. My view is that we should never film anything we do not intend to use in the movie.

3) Speaking of fucking and staying hard for hours at a time... I know that you don't want to ruin the fantasy for all us porn fanatics, but I've read that there is widespread use of ED medications in the porn industry to help guys keep it up. I realize you may want to take the 5th on this, but I was wondering if you can at least give me an best guess percentage of how much this is happening in the industry. Also, do the guys acquire their own meds and use them on their own without really letting their bosses & coworkers know? Or is it something that is often encouraged/condoned by the studios. I only ask, because I just think it's all fascinating. It's almost, but not quite like the steroids controversy in sports. It's just really interesting to me. Not to mention, if this is happening a lot less than I've heard, I can maintain my fantasy that these guys (like Jake) are just naturally, perpetually rock-hard!

CW: This is a good question. One think that a good director does it to keep his models hard! I often say that directing is all about "hard-on management." The first indication of a lousy director is one who can't keep his models naturally hard. Some companies--specifically the Eastern European ones--require Caverject--a chemical that is injected into the cock. We do not use caverject on our shoots--this is a prescription medication that is dangerous to use. We have heard stories of one company here in SF that uses this regularly. One way to detect if guys are using caverject is to see if they are ever shown without hard ons. It is really sad when companies use these drugs on guys. It puts those of us who do things the "natural" way at a real disadvantage. I think the honest dollar is still worth more than the counterfeit on.
