Raging Stallion's GRUNTS Sweeps GayVNs!!!!!

San Francisco based Raging Stallion Studios took top honors at the 2008 GayVN Awards, earning a total of ten awards and all of the top prizes. GRUNTS, the 40-scene mega-blockbuster co-produced with Naked Sword took Best Picture and also gave Chris Ward and Ben Leon the prize of Best Director. Ward and Leon also picked up the trophy for Best Editor. Jake Deckard, Raging Stallion's 2007 Man of the Year, won Best Actor for his portrayal of Sergeant Houle, and Ricky Sinz won Best Supporting Actor for his work in the film. Deckard also won the coveted title of Performer of The Year--arguably the top prize at the show. Raging Stallion has won Performer of The Year for four of the past five years.

Ricky Sinz and Roman Ragazzi also were given the award for Best Sex Scene. Ricky took his third prize for Best Solo. Kent Taylor and Geof Teague were given the award for Best Photographer.















Jake had this to say about his victory: "I've done pretty much everything I can now as a model, and I've now got lucite to prove it! From this point on everything I do is about my new production company, Screaming Eagle XXX. It's nice to have some control. Like Ferris Bueller said, 'If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.'"

"It was our night," commented company president Chris Ward. "GRUNTS was a great film--it was the best of the year. I thought we stood a good chance of winning and my staff was pretty sure that we would do well. I cautioned all of my team that sometimes how you lose is more important than how you win. Mentally we were ready for any result. As the awards began coming our way we were excited beyond belief. It was an adrenaline rush par excellence! It was a great night, one that I will remember forever!"

Ben Leon, who shared the top awards with Ward, was ecstatic with his armful of plastic. "We worked our asses off on this movie and the awards are a testament to hard work, high hopes, and our actors and crew. Achieving this recognition will force me to work harder in the future and aim for bigger and more demanding projects."

GRUNTS, the top selling movie of the past five years, was a $250,000 film--perhaps one of the most expensive productions in recent years. "I always wanted to make a military movie, " said Ward, but I needed to wait until I had the resources to do it--having a whole platoon of troops is very expensive! I think Raging Stallion has made a classic and I hope people enjoy it for many years to come."

Raging Stallion Announces First Blu-ray Gay Title

San Francisco porn powerhouse Raging Stallion Studios today announced a street date of March 31 for the first ever Blu-ray gay erotic DVD. GRUNTS, the studio's mega-blockbuster, will appear in the Blu-ray format on that date. This is the first Blu-ray disc for the gay side of the adult industry and represents a significant technological milestone. GRUNTS was chosen to be the first Blu-ray disc because of the importance of the title to the industry as a whole: the 22-man military epic was the top selling title of 2007 and so far is the top selling title of 2008. Reviewers around the world have hailed GRUNTS as one of the most significant porn titles of the decade. The film has been nominated for over 20 GayVNs, including best picture, best director (Chris Ward and Ben Leon), best actor (Jake Deckard), best supporting actor (Ricky Sinz), and 16 other nods.

Raging Stallion president Chris Ward noted that his studio was determined to lead the industry into the HD era. "We upgraded all of our equipment to handle full 1080i60 HDV footage over a year ago, so we have had the ability to make the switch to full HD for some time. The upgrade was very expensive--the cameras alone were nearly $20,000. All of our computers had to be replaced with Mac G5s and our editing software also required expensive upgrades. The DVD authoring program alone costs a fortune. Rather than rush a disc to market in 2007, we decided to wait until the market was ready for the product--and that time is now. When viewers see Raging Stallion in HD on Blu-ray, there will be no going back!"

Previously, Ward noted, Raging Stallion had planned to adopt the cheaper HD-DVD format, but recent customer preferences have given Blu-ray a real leg up in the competition between the formats. Blu-ray costs five times as much to manufacture as HD-DVD, which means that many studios will have a problem converting to the new format. "Blu-ray seems to have won the format wars and eventually all studios will have to deal with Blu-ray. Obviously we hope that being the first out of the gate will give us a competitive edge and keep Raging Stallion in the position of an industry leader," said Ward.

Raging Stallion plans to offer GRUNTS on Blu-ray in a special package that will also include the regular DVD version of the movie. This will allow customers who have not yet purchased a Blu-ray player to enjoy the movie today AND have the Blu-ray disc ready and waiting when they eventually purchase their new player.

Pricing for the new Blu-ray will be announced later this month.
