Chris Ward Names Steve Cruz as His New Principal Videographer
Raging Stallion president Chris Ward today announced that long time RSS superstar Steve Cruz has been named as his principal videographer, a prestigious position formerly held by such luminaries as Lester Moore, Leif Gobo, Ben Leon, Tony DiMarco and David Hempling. Steve's debut as videographer is in the upcoming Tales of the Arabian Nights, one of the biggest porn production of the year. Arabian Nights was co-directed by Ben Leon and Chris Ward, with Cruz doing all the videography work for the Chris Ward part of the movie."I am very excited to be working with Steve," commented Ward. "He has talent--he really understands sex and how to film it. I have watched him grow over the many years and I can say that he is as good as it gets. I guess what really makes him click with me is that he and I seem to have the same understanding and feeling for what makes hot porn--from general ideas about casting down to the minor details, like how long to hold a shot or what angles to get. Having a good team mate when making movies is critical to a director, and having Steve on the camera really makes me happy."
When asked to comment on his promotion, Steve said "My head is kind of spinning! This next phase of my career is proving to be the most exciting yet. I am honored to be working along side Chris, and he's excited to be directing full time again. I'm grateful to have such an accomplished mentor in my life. Learning, growing and co-creating under a huge talent I've admired from day one? It's really too good to be true. When Chris discovered me in 2006, I was flattered and curious about how far I could go in this business, but I wasn't sure how I'd be received. Like everything I do, I just put my heart and soul and everything I have into it... the journey has incredible, often surprising- mind blowing!"
Steve Cruz Bio:
What can we say about the insatiable and ambitious Steve Cruz? Dark, handsome and hairy... when it comes to sex he can never get enough. Often called the studio's sex pig, he's the guy that looks like he's having the time of his life.
He was discovered in San Francisco by Chris Ward in 2006 and immediately cast to star in two major projects, 'Lords of the Jungle' and 'Mirage'. Success came quickly after his debut. He starred in 7 consecutive movies for several major gay porn producers including a GAYVN and Grabby Award winning performance in 'Link: The Evolution'. But he's probably most remembered for his performances after signing as a Raging Stallion Exclusive in 2007, where he remains.
His videography also includes Raging Stallion favorites such as 'GRUNTS' (Best Picture 2008 GAYVN and Grabby Awards), 'Focus/Refocus', 'Ink Storm' (GAYVN Best Fetish film 2008), and a self-penned adaptation of Faust, 'Hotter Than Hell pt. 1 and 2'. In 2008, he was named Raging Stallion's Man of The Year, the studio's highest honor. That same year he won the Grabby for Best Newcomer.
With Chris Ward's blessing Steve took a short hiatus from performing to pursue an opportunity to direct movies. The co-directed first effort, Mustang/Falcon's 'Blue Movie' was nominated for Best All Sex at GAYVNs and Grabbys in 2009. Ironically in that same year he won the Grabby for Performer of the Year and Best Website. Naked Sword also honored him with their coveted Man of the Year Award, 2009 and contributed to his self-funded safe sex campaign, 'How I Roll.info', producing the Steve Cruz condom.
Steve brought new discovery Bruno Bond to Raging Stallion in 2009. Chris Ward convinced the two to star in 'Menace', and Steve was back in front of the lens. On the set they fell in love, a 'bond' that is still going strong.
Under the guidance of Executive Producer Chris Ward, Steve and Bruno launched their membership site HardFriction.com... filming, editing and sometimes starring in their own scenes. Their first DVD, the self titled 'Hard Friction' was well received by reviewers and fans alike.
In the fall of 2009, adaptive Steve not only starred in but was also cinematographer along side Ben Leon in Chris Ward's 'Tales of the Arabian Nights', the long awaited follow-up in the Arabesque series. Steve and Bruno as Hard Friction produced all the Behind the Scenes and Bonus Content for the film which releases in Early Spring 2010. Coming full circle from performer, to producer, cinematographer to director he continues to adapt and grow and contribute to the success of the Raging Stallion family of companies. Fans are excited to see where he takes them next.
